Three Kings and a Child

This is a fascinating story about a child and three kings. This brings the importance of Christ and his presence. Rome was ruled by Caesar Augustus and Israel was administered by King Herod. In a village called Nazareth, Joseph and Mary lived where Joseph worked as a carpenter and Mary was a virgin who became his wife. One fine day Mary told her husband Joseph about a dream she had in which an angel informed her that she was chosen to give birth to a Son of God and he would be named Jesus. One day the emperor asked all the people to register for new tax and instructed to return to their birth towns.

Both Joseph and Mary left for Bethlehem from Nazareth. Mary was pregnant and hence rode on a donkey and Joseph walked. They traveled during days and rested at night. Eventually, they both managed to reach Bethlehem at night and looked for a shelter to rest. They found no empty rooms and Mary could not tolerate much. As they were unable to avail any room, Joseph mentioned to the innkeeper that his wife was close to birth. He took pity and informed them of the nearby hills and caves where shepherds stayed with cows and sheep. However, Joseph located a cave that was a stable room. He cleaned and made fresh hay beds. The following night Mary gave birth to a son and named him Jesus as the angel had requested.

In Bethlehem, when this child was born a very great star appeared and was seen far and wide. The shepherds who were tending flocks were frightened when an angel appeared. The angels informed them that a Savior called Christ was born and is going to bring great joy. She also informed that the baby is lying in a manger in swaddling clothes. After the angels left, the shepherds went to Bethlehem and found a child inside. The three mighty kings saw the star and set to follow the star, Caspar, the Tarsus king, Melchior, an Arabian leader and Balthazar, the Ethiopian king. They traveled for many days over deserts, plains and mountains on camels following the bright star.

Eventually, the reached Bethlehem and found a child in the manger. They stayed in the caves that night and returned to their respective lands the next day. All the three kings bowed their knees and showered gifts of frankincense, myrrh and gold and spread the birth of a great savior to all parts of the world. The whole world had received a gift, Jesus.
