Ultimately, Christmas arrived, Teresa somehow managed to bake a Christmas cake, made a dress in blue color out of the material a lady gave in the village and she opted to wear her good old green dress.
But the stones looked dull without a Christmas tree. They both, mother and daughter sat quietly and gradually her mother started talking of the gone by years.
She told Mabeline that the Christmas they had when Mabeline’s dad was with them was a fabulous Christmas and she believed that he would return one day and they would enjoy the golden old days again.
However, Mabeline had less hopes. By then they heard a loud knock on the door step and Mabeline was shocked to see her father with a lovely Christmas tree. He apologized for deserting them and assured that he would never repeat such acts, henceforth.
Mabeline’s father told about his expedition in the past four years. He initially went to a big town and handled few odd jobs, then took to overseas and got himself employed as a ranch manager.
His boss was an old man but loved Mabeline’s father for his sincerity. Now, the old man was no more and as he had no family of his own, he left his ranch, mansion, stable, jewellery, farm and bank balance. They then lived happily there and Mabeline studied in one of the best schools.
This was a blessing of the Christ that Mabeline had her father back and their sincere wishes and hard work was blessed with good fortunes. Any act of sincerity and faith was always appreciated by Christ. |
