The Realization

A man and his wife lived in peace. They had good business and lived in peace and harmony. Though they were not from few opulent families of the village, they had a convenient living.

They had seven sons and among them six were married, but for his last son. The old man’s wife one day suddenly fell sick and passed away. As the old man was in great grief, his sons started showing their true color.

All the six sons started quarreling over petty matters. They fought for the business, lands and the house to be split and started demanding for their share. But the old man strictly denied. However, he always had his last son beside him.

Normally, it became a routine of the last son now to take care of his father in his mother’s absence. Only the last son toiled the whole day but was a cheerful and a very helpful person.

One fine day, in the morning when he went to his father’s room, his father complained of lack of sight. His son tried his best, but his father could not see as he had lost the power of vision. This was a golden opportunity for all the other brothers and they tried to exploit the situation.

However, the last son took care of his father well, but all the medicines went vain. The priest of the adjacent church asked the old man’s sons to get the eyes from the Jesus statue situated at Jerusalem assuming the lost sight to be some evil cast.

None of the sons came forward. The last son immediately marched to Jerusalem but did not touch the eyes of Jesus. Instead he took some soil in his hand touched the soil to the statues eyes and bought the same and touched it to his father’s eyes.

The miracle happened and the lost vision reappeared and his father’s joy knew no bounds. The old man was happy and decided to give away a big share to his last son.

In the meanwhile, the other brothers plotted a plan and trapped their father in their words by saying that his last son only cast the evil eyes and now pretended to be a savior.

However, he got carried away by their deceitful words and asked the last son to get away from his sight. But his son took his blessings and walked silently out. He must have hardly reached the end of the road, when he heard footsteps.

He was astonished to see his brothers running behind him begging him to return. He accepted and returned home. They begged him because as soon as he left home, a divine light came from the Jesus statue placed in the prayer room and enlightened their minds. The realization came from Jesus and washed their evil thoughts.
