The same night he cut the leather and next morning with hopes for the future saw that the shoes were perfectly tailored into masterpieces. The shoemaker was totally dazed and he was thronged by customers for shoes.
He gleamed with joy and bought more leather for four shoes. He once again cut the four pairs and the next day he found that these were also complete. This sequence followed that he would cut it in the evening and it would be finished by morning. Soon the poor shoemaker grew very rich.
One evening before Christmas he finished cutting the leather and he said to his wife that he desired to see who lend them a helping hand during dire necessities. His wife agreed and they hid in a corner behind some clothes.
At midnight, two little Pixies made way into the room and skillfully completed the shoes. Their hands moved deftly over the shoes. But they had no clothes on them.
They completed it and were out of sight in few seconds. The next morning the shoemaker’s wife made shirts, coats, trousers, vests and a pair of stockings and asked her husband to make two pairs of shoes.
At midnight the little pixies came in and found pretty clothing on the table. They were initially puzzled and later on were excited. They dressed quickly and went merrily singing. They danced, jumped and leapt in joy and the shoemaker prospered in his business. So Christmas is about giving appropriate gifts.
