Compassion of Jesus

Once in a city, there lived a merchant. He owned an overseas business along with his friend. They were friends since their childhood days.

One day, the merchant’ friend had cheated him and he lost all of his money. He returned home and cursed his friend. His wife advised him to pray to Jesus as Jesus was all compassionate.

At first, he paid no heed to this advice. She also asked him to approach the school where he had studied for a teacher’s job. He approached and returned disappointed as there was no vacancy.

His wife again advised him to pray to Jesus. This time he listened to his wife.

After two days, he was called to the school as one of the teachers had left the school and he was asked to take his place. His wife said that it was due to the grace of Jesus.

He did not believe in it. Slowly the days passed by. He became an eminent teacher. He was loved by all the students. He was soon appointed as the headmaster of the school.

He became famous all over the city as he was both efficient and hardworking. His school became very prominent not only within the city but also within the neighboring cities as well.

After a span of two months, he heard the news that the friend who had cheated him of all his money had fallen prey to an unexplainable and incurable disease.

At first, he felt very happy at the news of friend’s illness. But his wife reprimanded him and asked him to visit his friend as it was the hour of need. For the sake of old times, the man visited his friend.

The plight of his friend moved him to tears. His friend’s body had become dark, his voice had waned and he appeared as if on his deathbed.

The man told him to pray to Jesus as he was compassionate and also assured him that his wishes and his prayers would be for him. After about two weeks, he saw his friend at his doorstep. He was completely cured.

The friend fell at the feet of the man and asked him to forgive his misdoings. The man said that it was the compassion of Jesus. After all these occurrences, the man left behind his entire wealth to his friend and went along with his family to preach about Christ to the world.
