The farmer went to his farm and when he returned the following evening, he found certain flowers growing at the same spot where he had met the boy. Surprised at this, he took a handful of these flowers to his wife. His wife too was astonished at this strange sight since there were not many flowers in that region. Both the farmer and his wife understood that it must have been the grace of their beloved guest. After taking a look at these flowers, she named them as Chrysanthemums that meant Christ flowers or Gold flowers.
This story is an eye opener to all the people. The farmer never hesitated to take the boy home. When he mentioned that he was an orphan, his heart melted. He took him home and the same feeling was reciprocated by his family members. They shared his sorrow and also their simple, little feast. They never bothered him and he was allowed to sleep peacefully in the house. He was not troubled by the peasant or his family. In return, he revealed his identity. The next day, the peasant did not feel any pride for having the Christ child himself as a Christmas guest and was hence, given the opportunity to see the golden Chrysanthemum flowers. |
