A Good Deed |
|
Once, there lived a boy in a village. He was known for his kind heartedness. He was the darling of the entire village. Everyone loved him. He was liked even by the animals of the village. He was kind to everyone. He had excellent mannerisms. He was a sincere devotee. He was the son of a peasant who also had the same characteristics. He also had two brothers. The entire family was well loved by the whole village. They were also devoted to god and lived by the path of righteousness. They always did what was correct. They were very sincere Christians who believed in Jesus Christ and celebrated Christmas to their maximum extent.
During a Christmas Eve, the peasant had a dream. In his dream, he saw Jesus. Jesus said that he was very pleased with the peasant and also his sons. Jesus also said that the peasant would go to heaven along with one of his sons. The sons had to choose the worthiest one among them to reach heaven. After saying this, Jesus disappeared. The peasant informed his sons about his dream the next day. He also said that he would give them the chance to prove themselves. They had to travel for a year and by next Christmas; they had to perform the noblest deed.

The sons agreed. They started together. The eldest son joined the king’s army and soon became an adept and brave soldier. The second son reached the docks and became a sailor. The third son joined with a swordsman and learned swordsman ship from him. He later found out that his teacher was a robber but he helped him as he was grateful to his teacher. He soon made a name for himself as a robber. During the year, the three brothers never saw each other.
The year had almost ended. The three brothers had started their homeward journey. They reached their anxious father. The eldest son said that he had once saved the king from being killed by his own treacherous minister. The second son said that he had once saved the captain’s daughter by jumping into the water and rescuing her. The third son mentioned about himself being a robber and he said that he had saved his enemy, a law officer from a snake that tried to kill him when he was asleep. At that moment, Jesus appeared and said that the peasant and his third son deserved to go to heaven as the third son had helped his enemy and was loyal to his teacher even though he did many wrong actions. The third son protested and asked Jesus to allow his other two brothers into Heaven. Jesus smilingly obliged and the entire family went to Heaven. |
