Christmas is the biggest celebration of this universe. We all enjoy and cherish every moment during Christmas. It is the time of dancing and celebrating with family and near ones. Many aspects are inter-related with this festival and a major attraction of Christmas is undoubtedly the Christmas lights.
In the United States, these lights are also called as twinkle-lights, fairy-lights or holiday-lights. People decorate their house and buildings during Christmas. Lights are also used to decorate the famous Christmas Trees. More than the big lights, small twinkling lights or the ‘midget bulbs’ are used in huge numbers for decoration. In some parts Christmas lights are also known as Italian Lights.
From history we get to know that electric bulbs entered the arena of Christmas-decoration, after the innovation of electric lights. U.S. president Grover Cleveland was the first person to sponsor the first ‘electrically lit Christmas tree’ in White House in the year 1895. From that period of time, lights are playing a big role in Christmas decoration. People decorate their house in their own way but generally the churches use many lights to decorate beautiful Christmas trees.

Philadelphia’s Christmas Light Show is world famous. Lamps are mainly used for Christmas lighting, among which incandescent light bulbs & light emitting diodes (LED) are quite common. LEDs can be found in various color and forms. Phosphor and Plasma is the two mostly used ingredients of these lights. Use of LEDs has become extremely popular among people due to its use of less electricity and low cost.
People also cover the normal bulbs into colored-wrapper, which is also an easy and affordable ploy of making beautiful Christmas lights. Use of Fiber Optic Technology can also be found in Christmas lighting. Sometimes people build huge light sculpture to enhance the grandeur of Christmas lighting. Places like Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge in Tennessee are famous for light sculpture during Christmas.
But within the houses people mainly use mini-lights. Candy canes, snowmen are some of the finest examples of mini Christmas lights. The size and the decorations of Christmas trees are dependant to the affordability of its owner. But never forgets to take proper actions to prevent any kind of short-circuit and other mishap.
