The carol words ‘Gook King Wenceslas’ was published in 1853, written by John Mason Neale. This originated 300 years earlier in Finland. Good King Wenceslas was the 10th century king of Bohemia. The king was a catholic. He was martyred pursuing his assassination by his own brother Boleslaw and the supporters; the Saint’s Day is yet commemorated on September 28th, and even today the St.Stephen’s feast day is celebrated on December 26th. He served the needy and saw to it that they get their basic things to be fulfilled. True to his name he was good and the people under his reign enjoyed the best days.
